Italian-Style Bean Chowder Recipe
1/4 tsp of black pepper
1 c of red beans (dry)
1 c of beans (dry great northern)
1 canned tomatoes (28 oz); sliced
1 onion (medium); sliced
1 package green beans (frozen Italian-style)
2 Tbsps of bouillon granules (instant beef)
2 garlic cloves; minced
2 tsps of seasoning (Italian); crushed
Wash the dry red and great northern beans. Pour it into a Dutch oven with five (5) cups of water. Let it boil; and then reduce the heat. Let it simmer, covered, for another 2-3 minutes. Take it out of the heat. Let it stand covered for an hour; and drain.
Meanwhile, combine water, bouillon, crushed Italian seasoning, tomatoes, pepper, salt, and onion altogether in one crockpot (3.5 quarts).
Stir it well and cook on high for about 5-6 hours (’til the red and great northern beans are nearly tender). Stir in the Italian-style green beans into the soup; and cook for half an hour on high heat.
