Garden Dinner Casserole Recipe

1/8 tsp of pepper
1/2 c of cheese (Cheddar); shredded
1 c of peas; cooked
2 c of soft bread; cubed
1-1/2 c of milk
2 Tbsps of margarine; softened
2 Tbsps of onion; sliced
3 Tbsps of flour
3 Tbsps of margarine
1 tsp of salt
1 c of meat; cut into pieces & cooked
1 tomato (large); sliced

Combine soft bread cubes, shredded Cheddar, and the 2 tablespoons of margarine altogether in a medium-sized bowl. Mix it well. Transfer half of this mixture in an oiled casserole (1 quart). Top it with the cooked peas. Set aside.

Preheat the oven up to 350 degrees F.

Place a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Once it is hot, melt the 3 tablespoons of margarine; and then saute the onions ’til almost transparent. Add in the flour together with salt and pepper. Mix well.

Reduce the heat. Let it simmer. Stir constantly ’til mixture bubbles. Pour in the milk and continue stirring for a minute or two prior to stirring in the meat. Mix well and simmer for 3-5 minutes; and then remove it from the heat.

Pour some of the sauce over the peas. Top it decoratively with the tomatoes. Sprinkle it with the remaining half of the crumb mixture; and then bake it for 20 minutes, uncovered
