Classic Sweet and Tangy Meatballs Recipe
Meatball ingredients:
1 onion (large); quartered
1 pc of egg; lightly beaten
1 pc of pepper (green); quartered
1 pound of beef (lean); ground
2 pcs of carrots; diced
1/4 cup of crumbs of bread
Salt & pepper, garlic
Sauce Ingredients:
1/2 cup of sugar (brown)
1/3 cup of water
1 cube of chicken bouillon
1/4 cup of white vinegar
1 Tbsp of cornstarch
1 Tbsp of soy sauce
Combine the beef, crumbs, garlic salt, and pepper altogether in a large bowl; and then mix well. Make about 10-12 (medium-sized) meatballs out of the beef mixture).
Meanwhile, place a medium-sized skillet with veggie oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, toss in the meatballs and fry until evenly browned. Remove from the heat, and then set aside.
Drain the fat but reserve about two (2) tablespoons. Stir fry in the carrots and green bell pepper for about 10 minutes ’til half-cooked. Remove from the heat and set aside.
To make the sauce, combine the water, cornstarch, sugar, soy sauce and vinegar in a small saucepan. Whisk thoroughly. Let it boil over medium heat stirring constantly.
Add in the boullion. Stir ’til the sauce thickens. Toss in the meatballs and vegetables. Serve it with steamed rice
