Baked Beef and Cheese Toast Recipe
1/4 cup of onion; minced
3/4 cup of milk
1/4 tsp of mustard (dry)
1/2 pound of beef; ground
1 cup of sharp cheese; grated
1 tsp of salt
1 Tbsp of mustard (prepared)
1 pc egg; beaten slightly
2 Tbsps of celery; sliced
Butter (or oleo)
8 bread slices (white)
A dash of pepper
2 cloves of garlic; crushed
1 Tbsp margarine
Toast the slices of white bread in an oven toaster and butter on each side.
Meanwhile, place a medium-sized skillet with margarine over medium heat. When the margarine melts, toss in the garlic and onions.
Once the garlic turns light brown and the onion becomes transparent, add in the beef followed by the celery, prepared mustard, half a teaspoon of salt, and a dash of pepper.
Let it cook ’til the beef turns light brown. Remove from the heat. Drain the fat and set aside.
Preheat the baking oven up to 350 degrees.
Form alternating beds of toast followed by the beef mixture, and shredded cheese on an oiled baking dish (9×9x2 inches). Repeat the procedure for the remaining toast, beef and cheese.
Sprinkle with half a teaspoon of pepper, salt and dry mustard on top of the layers; and then pour the milk over. Bake it for half an hour (uncovered).
